Dear 9-R Families

We wanted to inform our families about a community meeting that will be held tonight regarding the Lightner Creek Fire. The county emergency manager and members from the Type II Emergency Management Team will provide updates on the fire, evacuation and pre-evacuation notices and address community concerns around the fire. The meeting will begin at 5:00 pm at Escalante Middle School, located at 141 Baker Lane, Durango, CO 81301.

Vaccine Exemptions Reminder!

As the school year winds down, please keep in mind all non-medical exemptions submitted between July 1, 2016, and June 30, 2017, expire June 30, 2017. Parents/guardians wishing to exempt students from school-required vaccines for the 2017-2018 school year will need to submit a new non-medical exemption on or after July 1, 2017. Medical exemptions remain valid as long as no information has changed.

Growing Great Brains Expo Educates the Community

Students from Duane Tucker's 6th grade language arts classes at Escalante and Erica Dey's AVID 7th graders from Miller presented their projects on the human brain to the community at Fort Lewis College Wednesday night. Their engaging presentations educated the public on topics ranging from how classroom furniture can impact learning to how the ability to change DNA can impact brain growth.

End of Year Medication Pick-Up

Dear Parents,
Please remember that all medication needs to be returned to an adult by June 1st (emergency meds MUST be picked up on the last day). Any remaining medications will be destroyed. Please contact Nurse Mel with your plan for pick up.
