Miller Counseling

Dear Families:

As Durango Schools continues to strengthen its commitment to student learning, student wellness and supporting the whole child, we will be administering a fall, District-aligned social and behavioral skills survey from September 22 through October 10, 2025.

The survey, designed by SSIS CoLab, will help schools better understand how students are performing in areas like self-management, responsible decision-making, ability to adapt to change, relationship skills, and self-awareness, as well as emotional indicators related to learning and school success.

How will schools use the survey information? Schools will be able to:

  • Use students' overall social & behavioral competency levels to design classroom and school-based supports.
  • Assess individual, classroom and school-wide social and behavioral trends to identify areas that may need improvement.
  • Identify overall patterns that can inform the planning of class or whole-school practices.
  • Set performance benchmarks so building leaders know when schools are doing a good job teaching social and behavioral skills that relate to learning and school success.

PPRA Notification for Students:

The Notification of Rights Under the Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment (PPRA) requires Durango Schools to give notice of a survey and to give parents an opportunity to opt a student out of any informational survey. Participation is voluntary and you may opt your child out by contacting school counselors Alanda Martin or Jeff Perry at 970-247-1418 or by sending an email to [email protected] or [email protected] by September 19, 2025.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to reach out to Alanda Martin or Jeff Perry by calling Alanda Martin (970) 247-1418 ext. 2560 or Jeff Perry (970) 247-1418 ext. 2561.
