Durango 9-R Announces Two New School Leaders

“We are very fortunate to have such strong leaders who are already in sync with their schools to take on this very important role of leadership at the school,” says Dan Snowberger, superintendent for Durango 9-R. “They will undoubtedly carry on the visions for the schools, honoring their unique cultures, communities and successes.”

Vicki Trousdale joined the district in 2014 as assistant principal at Miller Middle School. Prior to that role, Vicki came from Colorado Springs, Colo. where she was a "Master Teacher" and Instructional Coach/Interventionist. She also brings experience as a Humanities and Language arts teacher prior to that. She is coming from Discovery Canyon Campus, in School District 20, which is a K-12 school campus that is also a member of the International Baccalaureate World Schools designation.

“I am elated at the opportunity to lead Miller Middle School, and I look forward to continuing the amazing work in which students and staff are already engaged,” says Vicki. “Miller is a community I love, and I am excited to work with staff to clearly define school goals and objectives to be met within our professional learning communities. I would also like to expand the connections to our school for families and students. I appreciate the opportunity to help grow students and staff and make Miller an even more amazing school community.”

Marie Voss-Patterson joined Durango 9-R in 2015 as assistant principal at Park Elementary. Prior to joining 9-R, Marie worked as the Gifted and Talented director for Roaring Fork School District. She also served as a 4th grade teacher, GT teacher, math coach and teacher leader during her 11 years at Roaring Fork.

“I welcome the opportunity to serve the Park learning and teaching community and look forward to working with a dynamic staff, dedicated parents and involved community members,” says Marie. “Most of all, I look forward to working with our students and continuing the outstanding work at Park Elementary School.”

All these positions begin July 1, 2017, which is the start of the fiscal year for 9-R.
