Robyn Klein

Winner the week of December 9th:

"We would like to nominate Robyn Klein for the Bravo Award.  Robyn is a Special Service Provider (SSP) with 9-R. She is a skilled social worker who helps support students at AVE and EMS.  One of the creative ways Robyn works is to include her certified therapy dog, Ransom, into activities with the students. Students get unique opportunities to engage with Ransom when they are learning to read social cues, exploring interactions with Ransom and peers, and having the chance to get some TLC from Ransom when they are having a rough day.  Robyn has a quiet gentle nature that welcomes kids and speaks to their unique needs.

Frequently, because SSP’s typically work in multiple buildings, their contributions can “fly under the radar.”  EMS, like many schools, as found that substitutes and para-professional substitutes are hard to find lately. Over the last few weeks, when staffing was short and no substitutes could be found, Robyn stepped in to act as a substitute for Affective Education (AE) classes.  Without missing a beat, she jumped in to support the students and her co-workers. She went above and beyond the “call of duty” to ensure that the students were able to maintain their routines and the specific protocols that help their school days be successful.

Robyn, you are an amazing, caring, and hardworking lady.  Ransom, you are a kind gentle soul whose smile brings great joy to everyone you meet.   You two are an asset to the EMS team, and appreciated beyond words!!

Robyn was nominated by Tami Jantz and Hollye Bronson!

Billie Thorpe

Winner the week of December 16:

"Billie Thorpe has been an exceptional special education para at Florida Mesa Elementary School.  Since the moment she arrived at FME last school year she has instantly become a part of the Mustang family.  She constantly checks in on other staff members and does things to brighten their day.  She goes above and beyond with treating all students with respect and has high expectations.  She is dependable and will jump right in with anything asked of her.  Even if she has a difficult moment with a student she maintains a positive attitude.  Her reflectiveness and openness to suggestions and coaching make her a dream to work with.  The students respect and love her just as much as our staff does.  We are so lucky to have her as a part of our team!  Thank you Billie!!!"

Billie was nominated by Crissy Fast.

 Melinda Wood

Winner the week of December 23:

"The Boots and Bling dinner was fantastic. The food was phenomenal, the atmosphere delightful, and we shared laughs all night.

Melinda was behind the scenes all night making sure everything went well.
From the invitations to dessert, the coffee servers, meal servers and the prep cooks, to the auction items and presenters, all seemed to work seamlessly.

Melinda was thanked by Brandon Thurston for her tireless efforts, but I would like to acknowledge all of her efforts by nominating her for a Bravo award."

Melinda was nominated by Lynd Jeter!

 Corrie McCarthy

Winner the week of December 30:

"I would like to nominate Corrie McCarthy.  Kids' Camp was in jeopardy of closing our Riverview site on Sept 30 and Oct 4 for lack of a sub.  We had several absences around the district and after reaching out to ESPs in the buildings and the whole 9-R sub list, we still were short two subs.  Corrie, who runs Common Grounds, heard about our dilemma and volunteered to help!  This allowed me to cover the other vacancy and keep Kids' Camp up and running for our families.

Thanks, Corrie!  You exemplify what teamwork is all about!"

Corrie was nominated by Audra Snow
