Leadership Class
The Leadership class at Miller is three-fold. First the students are Teacher Aides for any staff member who would like one, eighth hour. Teacher Aide jobs challenge the students with life-skills and responsibilities. Second the students take the lead in modeling Character Counts to the student body. They give presentations in the Power Period classes demonstrating the Six Pillars of Character (trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship). Once the student body has won an activity by displaying the Six Pillars of Character and collecting enough character tokens, the leadership class puts together the activity won. The activities may be dances, assemblies, spirit weeks, community service, holiday celebrations, appreciation weeks, and special activities for all three grade levels at Miller. Finally, the students help with the electronic yearbook for the end of the year presentation. Leadership is an awesome class offered to the 8th graders at Miller and the outflow of activities seems to be enjoyed by all Miller Angels.
