Hello to our Miller Angel Parents!

The Miller School Counseling Department wants to reach out to you to give you some updates on our school counseling program here at Miller. This year we are utilizing a Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL) researched and vetted curriculum, called Second Step, to address comprehensive social emotional learning at Miller Middle School. This came as an administrative request to make sure we had researched Social Emotional Lesson Plans in place for all Miller Middle School students.  These lessons are delivered by Crew teachers and range from a wide variety of grade appropriate topics to include, but are not limited to, goal setting, addressing bullying and harassment, forming healthy peer relationships, and many other important social emotional learning topics. We want to include you as a part of our process in fostering healthy conversations with your child, so we will be sending out parent resources to provide you an opportunity to discuss the topics that are covered in Second Step with your children if you choose to do so. Be on the lookout for these in your email as resources to help us join together in supporting our Miller Angels in important social-emotional conversations.
We want you to be a part of the dialogue!

We would also like to recommend https://www.parenteenconnect.org/ to our parents as a supplementary resource from Second Step for tips in supporting your teenagers as they face new life experiences.
